Celebration V Reminders!
posted on August 6, 2010 by darthskellington

Attention Fellow Spies!
CV is just around the corner! If any of you are attending and have not already said so, please drop me a PM and we'll get some contact information to you in case you want to meet your fellow spies in Orlando.

Also, a reminder that some friends of The Bothan Spy will be there as well.
Chris Muncke, the actor who played Capt. Khurgee in ANH, will be in the autograph hall all weekend long. He'd love ot get a chance to meet you and chat for a while. So please stop his table and say hello. Let him know you are a Bothan Spy!
In addition, Tim Dry, the actor who portrayed J'Quille, the Whiphid, in ROTJ will be in the dealer hall selling copies of his new book, 'Continuum - The Star Wars Phenomenon As Experienced From The Inside'. Be sure and stop by and say hello to Tim as well. I've read his autobiography, Falling Upwards, and can say that it is a fascinating read. I'm looking forward to his new book!
Exclusive PSWCS Medallions at Celebration V

The Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society will be selling Lucasfilm approved, 1.75” medallions featuring an image of Chewbacca for $10 each at their booth at Celebraion V with all proceeds benefiting Canine Corps.
Canine Corps is an organization that cares for the dogs of US military personnel deployed overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan or Africa. They provide this service free of charge to soldiers who would otherwise be forced to give up their companions for adoption. PSWCS is thrilled to have the opportunity to support our American servicemen through this worthy charity.

This medallion is the second PSWCS has produced and sold for charitable efforts. In 2009 PSWCS sold medallions featuring an image of Obi-Wan Kenobi to benefit Operation Ward 57.
The medallions are a one-time, limited run of 1000.

One of the fastest growing demographics in the Science Fiction genre is the female audience. Thanks to an entertainment landscape which is growing more and more female-friendly, the foundation for fangirls in the Sci-Fi/pop culture world is getting stronger every year and they are rapidly becoming a Force to be reckoned with. Realizing this incredibly important and increasing segment of the Sci-Fi audience, Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano on the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has teamed up with The Araca Group, the co-producers & merchandising company behind the Broadway sensation, Wicked, to launch Her Universe — a line of merchandise designed exclusively for female fans. Beginning with a license for Star Wars, Her Universe focuses on authentic and high-quality licensed Sci Fi/Fantasy fashion apparel and merchandise. Eckstein’s new endeavor, however, is not just about selling merchandise. She hopes to start a movement within the Sci-Fi community to equally acknowledge the female fan base. Her first step will be coordinating and hosting a special panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 24 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in Room 24ABC, entitled “Her Universe: Shining the Spotlight on Female Fans — the Past, Present and Future of Science Fiction Through Female Eyes.” This unique panel brings together some of today’s leading women who are movers and shakers in the various fields of Sci-Fi and fantasy. The panel will discuss the influence of women working in the Sci-Fi field, what kinds of entertainment female Sci-Fi fans want to see more of, how to write fully-realized female Sci-Fi characters, what has been missing up to now, and what female fans can do to encourage this growing movement. The panel will bring together a dynamic group of women to discuss their experiences as well as a Q&A period with audience members. Join panelists Jane Espenson (Writer/Producer – Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Dollhouse, and Co-Creator of Syfy’s Warehouse 13), Melinda Snodgrass (Author – The Edge series, Co-Author – Wild Card series/Story Editor Star Trek: The Next Generation), Erika Kennair (Director of Development – Syfy), Cat Staggs (Artist – Star Wars sketch cards, Marvel card sets, comic cover illustrator), Bonnie Burton (Content Developer Lucas Online, Official Star Wars Blog, Founder of Grrl.com), Katie Cook (Artist – Star Wars, Topps sketch cards, comics, webcomic Gronk) and Mary Franklin (Senior Events Lead, Lucasfilm Ltd.) You can learn more about Her Universe, the Her Universe Comic-Con panel and purchase products at the online store by going to HerUniverse.com and by following Her Universe on Twitter and Her Universe on Facebook. |

The big Star Wars party this year is Star War Celebration, August 12-15th in Orlando -- but those attending Comic Con International in San Diego from July 22-25th can expect to find the Force in force at the world's biggest pop culture and media event as well.
Don't forget to drop by the massive Lucasfilm pavilion, where you can take a look at what licensees like Mimico, Del Rey Books, DK Books, Comic Images, Windless Studios, Official Pix, Insight Editions, Penguin Books, Hallmark, Her Universe, EFX, Rock Rebel and Sony Online Entertainment have on display. And located right next door are booths for Gentle Giant, Hasbro, LEGO, and Dark Horse Comics making it a must-see Star Wars destination.
